QUALITY COUNSELING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

OVER 30 YEARS OF SERVICES

THE BEGINNINGS

Quality Counseling and Community Services (QUALITY) has been incorporated with the State of Michigan as a non-profit organization since April 1992 and was a 501c3 non-profit organization from April 1992 – 2006. QUALITY was founded by an African American woman who obtained multiple contracts for children and family services. The organization provided residential services to abused and neglected children as well as day treatment counseling and community services to high-risk teenagers.

CHILDREN SERVICES

From 1999 through 2005 QUALITY obtained and maintained a regular 6 bed capacity license for the “Care of Children” with the State of Michigan’s Bureau of Regulatory Services for a Child Caring Institution (CCI). QUALITY also obtained a Child Caring Institution license from May 2002 through May 2004 for a second location. QUALITY provided 24-hour care for abused and neglected children ages from 10 to 17 years old. QUALITY provided individual, group and family counseling, substance abuse groups, recreational, and daily living skills for its customers. In 2000, Day Treatment services were added for court ordered PA150 youth. QUALITY operated a non-public school from 2001 through 2010 and provided children with local and private school accessibility.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

QUALITY’s CEO led the coordination of the State of Michigan’s Meet Up and Eat Up (MUEP) program in the community by partnering with the church and a community sponsor annually to provide two nutritional meals daily during a selected time in the summer month. In 2018 she created an “Activity Camp” and in 2019 she obtained volunteers to provide school-aged children with activities including classes with local childcare providers’ children. In 2020 and 2021, parents were allowed a curbside pickup of their children two nutritional meals to comply with the Covid-19 guidelines.
